Guidelines & Etiquette

What You Need To Know

Our community guidelines and etiquette were developed so that we can all pole safely in a conducive and hygienic environment. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!

Guidelines & Etiquette

Book before you come to the studio

  • We have classes available at a variety of levels. Details on each class’s level and any pre-requisites are listed in Dance-Studio-Pro (DSP) for easy reference.
  • Please also feel free to contact us with any questions on suitability.
  • Classes can be booked online directly through DSP.
  • Once classes have been paid for, students will be booked into the course(s) selected and so should choose their class commitments with care as all bookings are final and non-refundable. The Studio reserves the right to levy an administrative charge of $20.00 for class transfers for any reason (including work, travel, etc.). This also includes transfers to a different level of difficulty, or to another class of the same level in a different timeslot. Exceptions may apply, for example if a student wishes to transfer into a new timeslot that has just been opened.

Account Integrity

Each student is to maintain their own personal booking account on each platform for purposes of verification and ensuring accurate class attendance records.

Please do not book classes on behalf of others. The Studio reserves the right to turn away students who attend classes under the name of another registered student. Refunds will not be provided in such instances.

Please do not use school email addresses. Studio emails, including important account-related updates and class changes or cancellations, may be less likely to land safely in such inboxes due to firewalls and other email spam guards. Consider using a Google Mail address as an alternative, for example.

Arriving at the Studio

POLICY ON LATENESS AND ABSENCE FROM CLASS

  • Plan to arrive at least 5 to 10 minutes before your class starts to allow for enough time for TraceTogether check-in, changing into your workout attire and getting ready for your class.
  • You are required to open up either your TraceTogether or HealthHub mobile app to show your instructor your COVID Health Status page.
  • All classes start on time.
  • Attendance will be taken before the class begins warm-up activities.

ONCE CLASS STARTS, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ENTRY.

Refunds will not be provided for students who arrive too late to join their class.

MUTUAL RESPECT & SAFETY

  • The Studio reserves the right to turn away or exclude any individual from the premises and all platforms without giving any reason for doing so, without notice and with immediate effect if there are any conduct or behavior-related concerns which may be injurious to the character or interests of the Studio, students or staff, or if the Studio is of the opinion that the individual concerned is not suitable for continued patronage of the Studio. All decisions of the Studio under this clause are final and binding. Refunds for incomplete or unattended classes will not be provided in such instances, without exception.

Safe Distancing Measures

  • Students are welcome to wear a face mask as needed. Please speak with your instructor for variations to help manage your personal level of exertion.
  • Keep to one person per pole during class, as sharing is not permitted.
  • Wipe down all equipment used, such as the pole, chair, yoga mats, yoga blocks and crash mats.
  • Please continue to bring your own pole cloth to the studio to keep equipment clean and hygienic for your own use; we will continue to provide disinfecting alcohol on a complimentary basis to sanitize all surfaces.

Details on the studio’s Safe Distancing Measures are set out on our Policies and Health and Safety pages.

The Studio reserves the right to turn away students who do not comply with current Safe Distancing Measures as set out by Sport Singapore. Refunds will not be provided in such instances.

    Course structure

    • Courses require a minimum number of students to start.
    • If there are insufficient sign-ups for a course, the Studio reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or combine courses as required in terms of adjustments. Students will be notified directly when such instances occur.
    • If a course is rescheduled to a date/timeslot that the student is not able to commit to, credit for use against a future course will be provided by way of refund to the affected student. Such account credit cannot be used against purchase of retail products or pole practice sessions.
    • Waitlists are not maintained for any full or sold out courses. Please contact us with any enquiries about joining courses that may currently be full.

    Pole practice

Pole practice reservations can be made in DSP. Any account credits you may have in DSP can be used to purchase pole practice sessions.

    • Monkey Hands and iTac grip aids are STRICTLY NOT PERMITTED within our studio premises.

    • Refunds will not be provided for client-requested pole practice cancellations.
    • As an alternative, you may opt to privately swap or sell your pole practice booking slot to another individual.

    Studio-requested pole practice closures

    • Pole practice slots remain subject to Studio scheduling and maintenance requirements, and hence may be closed without prior notice. On such occasions, any active pole practice session bookings will be cancelled, and a refund in the form of DSP credits will be issued to any impacted clients.

    Private lockers

    • Our private rentable lockers are intended for use by our students in a responsible and hygienic manner. This includes refraining from storing perishable items such as food and drink within the locker unit and maintaining basic cleanliness of the storage facility.
    • All private lockers are rented on a per term, non-refundable and non-transferable basis to individual students who may be held responsible for any damage caused to the locker.
    • The Studio does not provide any guarantee as to the safety of items in the locker facility, and accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to locker contents.

    • All genders are welcome for our trial classes.

    • There will be no refunds or credit issued once the class has been booked.
    • There are no make-up lessons for missed trial classes.

    • Workshops are single-instance lessons on a specialty topic or choreographed routine.

    • Both workshops and mini term courses can be booked online directly through DSP.

    Workshops

    • Standard Class Structure terms apply, including where a minimum number of students are required to start, and where participants will receive DSP credits if the workshop booked is cancelled.
    • All bookings are final and non-refundable. The Studio reserves the right to levy an administrative charge of $20.00 for change requests for any reason (including work, travel, etc.)
    • There are no make-up lessons for missed workshops. Choreography recordings of missed workshops will not be provided.

    Mini Term Courses

    • All purchases are non-transferable.
    • There will be no refunds or credit issued once the online class has been booked.
    • There are no make-up lessons for missed online classes.

    Photography and videography

    Taking photos or recording videos

    • Students are permitted to use mobile phones during class for recording videos or taking photos of themselves.
    • Use of mobile phone stands and tripods exceeding 15 centimeters in height is not permitted.
    • Filming of warm-up activities, live instruction, and Instructors is not permitted.
    • Please obtain prior permission from your classmates if they may be visible in your photograph or video, prior to shooting the photograph or video and uploading onto social media.

    60-second limit

    • Videos shared on social media are limited to 60 seconds in duration for classes. Students who upload videos exceeding this duration may be asked to take down such posts.

    Marketing and promotions

    • Photographs, video or audio recordings may be taken during class, events, workshops, pole practice or other Studio activities for marketing and promotional use, including but not limited to posting on social media. Please speak with your Instructor before class if there are any concerns about this.

    Retail products

Due to the nature of the products that may be made available for purchase at the Studio (such as grip aids, pole wear, shorts, shoes, shoe protectors, pole cloths and any other accessories), all sales are final. No cash refunds will be provided, without exception.

For hygiene reasons, trying-on of any retail products is NOT permitted.

    Drop-ins

Drop-ins for our 60-minute group classes are available at a flat fee of $40.00 per instance. You may join any class with available space on our term calendar.

    • Please be aware that some classes (e.g. Splits & Backbends, Pole Tricks) may lend themselves better than others (e.g. a choreography-based class like ExoFlow) to individual drop-ins.
    • We therefore recommend that you select your drop-in carefully, taking into account your past experience and fitness goals in the same area.

To book your drop-in, please email us least 48 hours prior to the day of the class you wish to drop-in. This will allow sufficient time for checking that space is available, payment processing and return email confirmation that you have secured a place in your lesson of interest.

    Please note

    • You are only confirmed for the drop-in once payment has been successfully made and email confirmation sent out.
    • If you come to the studio without a booking confirmation, you may be turned away if there is no space available. Sharing of poles is not permitted; all social distancing guidelines continue to apply.
    • All sales are final, as a space in a term class is being consumed for such usage. There will be no refunds issued once the drop-in class has been booked.
    • There are no make-up lessons for Drop-ins.

    Make-up lessons

Make-up classes or swaps (mutual and Studio-assisted) are subject to availability. There is no guarantee you will secure a suitable replacement every time. As much as possible, please endeavor to attend all of your classes; we wouldn’t want you to miss out!

If you know that you will not be able to attend a scheduled class in advance, you can pre-arrange a make-up lesson within the same term through either:

    • Using our private Facebook group to arrange for swaps with other students. Direct swaps will ensure that you have a confirmed spot in the class.
    • Tagging your instructor in the private Facebook group to ask about availability for dropping into their class as a make-up lesson.

Privately arranged swaps are unlimited in terms of occurrences.

In the event that you are unable to arrange for a swap through the above methods, please write to hello@studiostarfire.com for Studio assistance with a maximum of two make-up lessons per student per term. Due to limited manpower, subsequent requests to change/swap/make-up individual classes may incur an administrative fee of $5.00 per request for assistance.

    MAKE-UP CLASS OPTIONS
The make-up class must be of the same class type or lower than your original class rating, and of the same price or lower.

    • For example, if you have missed a Pole 2 Tricks class, you will not be able to make-up for it with a Pole 3 Tricks class.
    • Flexibility and conditioning classes can be used to make up for any missed class type, subject to availability. If you have missed a flexibility class and there are no other classes at or below the same pricing tier that you can choose from, you may opt to top up to attend a different class with available space. Please email us to arrange for such make-up classes.
    • Pole Practice sessions can be used to make-up for missed classes.
    • Workshops cannot be used to make-up for missed classes.
    • Sharing of poles is not permitted.

    NOTIFICATIONS
To notify the Studio that a swap has been arranged, please email hello@studiostarfire.com for records and attendance-taking purposes.

    TERMS & CONDITIONS

    • Please consider your classes carefully prior to booking; class credit, refunds or transfers will not be provided if you cannot attend any of the available make-up options.
    • All make-ups remain subject to space availability within the same term.
    • There are no make-up lessons for missed make-up lessons.
    • Any unused lessons will be considered forfeited at the end of the term.
    • By agreeing to any transfer/swap of lessons, all parties involved are deemed to have agreed to any terms and conditions set out in the Waiver and Release of Liability and other policies located at https://studiostarfire.com/policies.

Letters from alternative therapy clinics, including but not limited to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and chiropractors are not accepted. Any issued account credits are valid for use only for redemption against full term classes. Credits cannot be used against the purchase of retail products. Please redeem all your credits prior to their stated date of expiry, as no extensions will be provided.
